ARCHIVE > Cloud Trees

In the Parque del Buen Retiro, there is a place called the Parterre Garden, adjacent to the monument to Jacinto Benevente (a Spanish author). In the garden there is a group of mediterranean cypress trees, which have been pruned into fantastic shapes -- sometime people refer to them as the "cloud trees." When my wife and I happened upon them, we were worn out from a long walk through the Park and decided to rest there, and I decided to take the opportunity to photograph the cloud trees. And then I started painting them as well.

These are the first of an eventual set of 12.
